Dell Technologies World 2025: Operations Director’s Thoughts

4 minute read

Dell Technologies World 2025

In late May, experienced specialists and innovative thinkers from around the world converged on Las Vegas for Dell Technologies World 2025.

Our Operations Director, Heath Roberts, was lucky enough to be invited (courtesy of our partners at TD Synnex). He took in a variety of speeches, demos and roundtable discussions – here are his thoughts in full…

Seeing AI acceleration first-hand in 2025

It’s always great to step back from the day-to-day and get a fresh look at where our industry’s heading, but being out in Vegas gives you a real sense of how quickly things are moving regarding AI and the importance of data.

Inventing the Future in Technology and AI: Michael Dell’s Opening Keynote

The opening keynote from Michael Dell set the tone right away. He talked about AI and data becoming as essential to our lives as electricity. Whether it’s in the home, in communities, or across the enterprise, data is becoming the foundation on which everything else is built.

What I took from his opening was how he reinforced the idea that AI is here to support human workers, not replace them. It’s about giving our teams better tools so they can work more efficiently and focus on what matters most.

“The Single Biggest Platform Shift”: Dell and NVIDIA

There was also a recorded conversation between Michael Dell and Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA. They spoke about how Dell and NVIDIA are working together to drive innovation, with some new developments being teased.

One key theme that came through clearly was that this is just the start. AI isn’t some future project to plan for — it’s here and it’s already changing how organisations operate. The challenge now is figuring out how to integrate it in a way that’s secure, sustainable and actually useful.

Digital Transformation in Retail with Lowe’s

Another session I enjoyed was from Seemantini Godbole – the CIO of Lowe’s, the US equivalent to B&Q. They’re using AI very practically to support their staff in-store – giving staff access to Sales Bots that can help them help their customers, and analysing where footfall is highest so they can send workers to those aisles. It’s almost like an Uber for customers and staff!

Lowe’s are deploying AI out to the edge to ensure performance and minimise latency. It’s a really clever approach that puts AI to work where it really counts.
